Steve Mullington gives his best horse racing tips ahead of Sunday's action...

4.25 Stratford – Deise Aba (NAP)

It doesn’t feel like three years have elapsed since I saw Deise Aba just get touched off by an 80/1 longshot in Aintree’s Pertemps Qualifier in December 2021, but here he is contesting a Hunter Chase under rules at Stratford on Sunday afternoon.

Still racing in the colours of Hemmings Racing, the eleven-year-old gelding is having a real successful time of it in the Hunter Chase sphere, having won three races for Francesca Poste since December.

On paper, the veteran is the one they all have to beat and Zac Baker is an excellent amateur.

Danger: Solomon Grey

4.07 Wincanton – Admiral’s Sunset (NB)

Another chase and another veteran to side with as Admiral’s Sunset looks to have all the attributes to land this 2m Memorial Handicap under top jockey Sean Bowen.

Most of this field have been struggling to find the winning post this season but the eleven-year-old mare did carve out a victory in December before her form tailed off a bit.

She’s back today however from a 187 day break and you would like to think she will be firing on all cylinders again and will be a decent price in our horse racing odds.

Danger: Blaze A Trail

5.00 Curragh – Stanhope (E/W Longshot)

Keeping with the older experienced horse theme on Sunday and my longshot for the day is Stanhope in the six furlong handicap at the Curragh.

The ten-year-old often kicks off a new season with a strong showing, a prime example being in April 2022 when he won a 14-runner affair at Navan on his annual debut.

You would like to think we’ll see more of the same from his stall 15 berth and on ground which he relishes.

Dangers: Downforce & Scarlet Dancer
