A hard-working midfielder or left-back who has drawn comparisons with Arturo Vidal and Michael Essien, Myles Lewis-Skelly broke into the Arsenal team during the 2024/25 season and quickly became an integral member of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Making his England debut during the same season, Lewis-Skelly’s journey from talented youngster to a household name was rapid.

With the Gunners among the Premier League betting favourites, he’s bound to be in the headlines for years to come.

Gifted with the ball at his feet and boasting a great engine, Lewis-Skelly’s versatility has been an asset early in his career. Time will tell if he can nail down a position for club and country.

How Much Is Myles Lewis-Skelly Worth?

Lewis-Skelly’s net worth figures have not been publicly reported. While still early in his professional career, Lewis-Skelly should have several million to his name thanks to a lucrative Arsenal contract and endorsements.

Donning Adidas boots on the pitch, the youngster will have a sizeable deal with the three-striped sports manufacturer. Other sponsorships are bound to come in the next few years as his profile continues to grow in the UK and beyond.

Contract

Breaking out in the 2024/25 season and making 39 appearances for Arsenal, Lewis-Skelly was rewarded with a new contract. The deal, according to Sky Sports’ reporting, runs until after the 2029/30 season.

Per Spotrac, Lewis-Skelly is on £40,000 per week. This is tied for the 281st-largest salary in the Premier League and is equal with Chelsea’s Axel Disasi and Leeds’ Ethan Ampadu.

There are 18 Arsenal players on at least double what Lewis-Skelly is earning. Kai Havertz is the club’s highest earner on £280,000 per week.

Upon signing his new contract, Lewis-Skelly said, "I'm so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I'm a fan and it's like a dream come true.

"I've embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I've still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that's the most important thing to me.

"I know I've taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I've made. I'm definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.

"I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that's always learning and stays grounded, which is so important."

Position

Operating in central midfield or left-back, Lewis-Skelly probably won’t be among the sports betting favourites to win the Ballon d’Or at any point in his career.

He came through the Gunners’ ranks as a central midfield player, most comfortable operating as six or an eight.

Mikel Arteta saw Lewis-Skelly’s skillset as ideal for the inverted full-back role on the left, meaning he tucks into midfield to create a 3-2-5 or 3-4-3 during build-up phases.

There’s a good chance he ultimately becomes a full-time midfielder at Arsenal with Arteta or the club’s next manager finding a long-term alternative at left-back.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid reportedly showed an interest in Lewis-Skelly before he signed a new contract with Arsenal.

Los Blancos were looking to push Lewis-Skelly to run down his contract, as they had done with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Lewis-Skelly showed little interest in a move at this stage of his career, however, and focused on securing a new deal in north London before the start of preseason training.

England

After representing England at under-17s, under-18s, and under-19s, Lewis-Skelly received his first call-up in March 2025 to face Albania and Lativa.

He started and scored in a win over Albania, becoming the youngest England player to find the net on debut. At 18 years and 176 days old, he broke the record previously held by Marcus Rashford.

England manager Thomas Tuchel was very positive about Lewis-Skelly on and off the pitch.

Tuchel said, "He was amazing. In camp [he is] full of confidence and very, very full of humour and such an open and mature character. You see everything, what you see on the pitch, you see off the pitch. So he was straight away a part of the group, very impressive.

"He does it with a natural confidence and this is how he plays football. It's a great performance. He's full of courage, full of quality and even more so that he could be with his little run behind the line, be decisive and open this game for us even better was amazing…

"So I think he's very versatile. He can do I think a lot of things. We tried to play a bit more conventional today because it's easier to learn. We have of course like everyone else, many players from many different clubs and he did very well. He can adapt because he understands very quickly."

Mother

Lewis-Skelly’s mother is Marcia Lewis, who launched No1Fan.club in 2022. The service aims to assist parents with children in football academies, including workshops on parenting young, aspiring footballers.

Lewis has always prioritised education for her son, even leading to occasionally turning down football.

In an interview with the BBC, Lewis spoke on the stresses of parenting a player as they are attracting attention from agents, brands, and other sources.

"Parents have struggles in all sorts of areas. It could be how to talk to your academy manager, how to build a relationship with an agent or how to find a sports lawyer to help with that side of things.

"It is such a unique environment to be in, there is no guidebook and we can get it so wrong. All we are doing is hearing the whispers on the sidelines, the hearsay: 'That person has an agent, that person's playing up, that person's going on tour and my kid is left out, my child is playing a different position and they're only a striker.'

"All these things that create this internal anxiety, is because we don't know or we don't have the right guidance."
